This picture speaks for more than thousand words. In my journey of learning and spirituality, one more chapter is getting added. I have just finished learning the basics of tarot card reading and thought of revealing the same to the World. It is not that I want to show off or pomp my knowledge, its a humble submission to my friends and well wishers that I added one more skill to myself in this journey of mine! I am learning tarot card reading and am learning it fast. After spending some time in understanding this wonderful ancient western occult form, I want to share few things about tarot cards.
1. What is this tarot card reading?
It is an ancient form of occult where we believe in the concept that nature holds answers to every question of ours for which we don’t know the answer. If someone asks you what is the capital of Japan you can answer “Tokyo”. Its because you know the answer.
If someone asks you a question, “Am starting this new business, the groundwork is all completed and ready to take off, will I be successful? How to make it successful?”. What would be your answer. You don’t know, because you can’t see the future. But mother nature has the answer to it. You don’t know her language so you can’t understand it. What if, you understand the meanings of the symbols through which mother nature tries to answer your question? You will be able to tell him, advise him, caution him and guide him. Tarot is not about knowing the future, its more about guidance and showing of path.
2. How is tarot reading done?
Messages from mother nature is held in symbols and the tarot card reader would try to decipher them and would like to peep into the future. One more thing. Tarot reading is not about happening or not happening, its also about how to make it happen. It is because Mother nature wants us to be successful and would constantly send signals to this regard. But many times we fail to understand those messages and that lead to a failure. Tarot helps you in guidance to every problem at every step and in every way.
3. How many tarot cards are there and how is the reading done?
There are totally 78 tarot cards divided into two broad categories. First category is 22 cards called “Major Arcana” and second category is “Minor Arcana” which has 56 cards. If I have to tell you the difference between major and minor arcana of cards in stock market language, major arcana is like Fundamentals and minor arcana is like technicals. So major arcana are important inevitable events which can change the direction and minor arcana is the minor small small things, that help in understand, identifying and resolving the problems.
Following are the 22 cards in Major Arcana. It starts from 0 and ends at 21.

The Minor Arcana has 56 cards divided into 4 categories.

3. The rods
4. The swords
Each category has 14 cards. Named Ace, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, page, knight, king and queen. These 14 in 4 categories makes it 56. Together these 56 and 22 helps us in understanding the situations and resolve them.
4. What kind of issues are resolved through tarot card reading?
Anything you want to under the sun can be addressed through tarot. It could be a simple question like when will I get a job and how will be my career to a little serious question like will I marry the girl I love to a slightly complex question like how to convince my parents to accept the girl I love to a very complex question like How should I plan my investments and money I earn in the next 10-15 years so that I don’t have a problem with my finances.
So all kinds of questions can be answered. You can have a 1 card spread and it can go in odd numbers upto 17 card spread. The complexity of the problem is taken into consideration while choosing the number of cards for the spread. In the picture above you can see the 5 card spread.
Finally, Tarot like any other occult sciences is in the hands of the reader. It involves Psychology, spirituality and honesty in understanding and interpreting the situations. It should never be used to gather information or to know the inner secrets of an individual. Solutions to problems can be arrived only with proper understanding and analysis and Tarot cards have been doing it for centuries!!!
Now I have started my journey!!!
