Chapter 2 Sloka 25 Bhagavadgita Meaning Translation and Interpretation

Chapter 2 Verse 25 Samkhya Yoga

Arjuna Uvaacha:

Sthitaprajnasya kaa bhaashaa samaadhisthasya keshava;

Sthitadheeh kim prabhaasheta kimaaseeta vrajeta kim.

Arjuna said:

What, O Krishna, is the description of him who has steady wisdom and is merged in the Super conscious State?

How does one of steady wisdom speak? How does he sit? How does he walk?

Interpretation

After listening to Lord Krishna for a long time with apt attention, Arjuna gets surprised with what Lord Krishna describes as a person who is a yogi and know his self. So, he gets curious about how the person looks and feels like and wants to clarify it with the Lord. So he innocently asks two questions to Lord Krishna. First he asks Krishna to tell him about the description of a man who is merged with wisdom and super conscious mind. Description here talks about the qualities that this person exhibits. The second question he asks is about the physical description of the person as to how he speak, how he behaves and how he walks. We should not take the literal meaning of how he walks but we should take it as more figurative.

Extending the interpretation to Mankind’s life!

This is the basic question that everyone gets in their mind. Are great people look different, talk different and walk different than the normal people? Where does the spirituality come from? Is this reflected in their physical appearance and the way they move and talk? This question comes to our mind because we see people who are extremely wise as the “avtaars” of God. We tend to worship them. We have many gurujis and swamijis who we worship. We don’t see them as a part of us. We see them as blessed and different from us. Is it the right approach? Should we worship other human forms as God’s and as messengers of God! Lets see what Lord Krishna says!
