A Complaint and a Request. Wake Up Call to the Youth of India! #YoungIndia

Angst, Pain, Request and Optimistic!

With a lot of pain and disappointment, I am writing today’s article. There will be acceptances and rejections on whatever I am trying today and I welcome both. I will today be writing on what many authors & scholars have already spoken and I accept their worry that the Country like India is facing today.

What’s the worry?
The most worrying thing for me today is the ‘Youth of the Nation’. Yes, I have a complaint on the Youth of this Country and that’s growing bigger with days passing by. The worry is that I see a lot of Young employees turning ‘Lazy’. Let me define what is laziness in my language taking an example.

If you take any college, why only a handful of people do well in the exams? Okay, When all of us are humans and all of us are getting the same treatment in education, why is that few scores more and most of them scoreless? If I have to answer this, I would say its because of the lack of understanding of efficiency. To make it simpler to understand, let’s take an example of a 100m sprint. Every one of us knows that Usain Bolt is the world’s fastest runner finishes it in 9.56 seconds for 100 meters. Let’s say there is another sprinter ABC who completes the run in 20 seconds. Here we see there is a 10-second gap. How does this gap arise and what’s the major reason for that? The answer is ‘Efficiency’. The difference between Usain Bolt and ABC is quantifiably 10 seconds but the actual reason for the difference is the efficiency of the individual. In a way, we can conclude that ABC has consumed more than double the time is taken by Usain Bolt to complete the task.

Same happens with students also. Their lack of understanding of efficiency makes them underestimate the task and they end up spending more time or waste a lot of time in doing a task. The underlying point here is that the individual is incapable of seeing the ‘efficiency’. That’s when we need a person who tells us the exact measure of efficiency that is required for doing a task. If you ask any person in the World if he is lazy, nobody will reply yes. In a way, it is true because nobody wants to be lazy and laziness creeps in out of the lack of estimation of efficiency to do a task to get the desired outcome. If they all turn efficient and give 100% to the work they do, then a country like India with 1.3 bn people would be the most powerful, highly literate, nil poverty and the best growing country. But that’s not the case and the problem is the Lazy youth who are not ready to accept the reality. The youth of today, unfortunately, has lost the patience and the sensibility required in gathering knowledge. Such sad and worrying truth which makes me feel miserable!

Another point that’s making Indian Youth Lazy and insensible is the easy Money. We always heard the stories of our parents who would explain how hard it was for them to earn a ‘single rupee’. The world has drastically changed and the last 20 years. Always change is constant and it’s needed. But like everything, change also has its pros and cons. A graduate working in an MNC or post graduate working in an MNC is now making a good sum of 15,000 to 40,000. With this many, the earning has become easier, of course, one has gone through interviews and they work hard to earn money in their workplace. Does that mean an individual gets to become irresponsible and fall into the false belief that the MNC’s will be taking care of them for the lifetime?

If MNC’s are paying big there are lessons to be learned. Firstly Indians need to understand that the Money made by MNC’s goes to their home countries. Just a few thousand jobs, FDI inflows, and taxes are positives for India. Does that mean MNC’s are bad for a country, No they are not! They have actually made life easier for the Youth and have given the chance for Youth to learn new things and develop themselves. But unfortunately that’s not the case, a lot of Youth feel pride in what they do and there is always the point of freedom hanging in their heads. Questioning is always acceptable but with an open mind to listen and think is much needed.

Otherwise, because of these factors, there is a lot of Youth who are actually becoming lazy and ruining their whole lives by doing nothing. They pass their prime age looking at the money given by these MNCs and suddenly find themselves jobless once they cross 40. No change in this behavior in Youth will only lead to massive destruction of manpower and gives rise large scale middle-aged unemployment which will make a big dent in the Indian economy. My humble request to all the Youth of India is to stop taking easy routes, and sit back and think about the responsibilities and the degree of efficiency remanded from them. If this happens then I believe that India will change and things will soon fall in place. Every individual will know how much to do in a day and what level of efficiency he needs to maintain to lead a happy and successful life!
