Firstly, it was after a long time that I had gone to watch movie with my good friend with whom I usually used to watch every Akshay Kumar movie. GOLD is a wonderful experience for someone who would want to go back and ride the history of Indian hockey and its glorious days. This movie tells us many things and gives us some valuable lessons to learn and inculcate. No better day than Independence day to release this movie, producers are indeed nearing towards profit mark. As usual this time also I will give the short summary of the movie and my takeaways from this movie. Yes, understandably there are misrepresentation of facts as its only movie trying to depict the history.

Story:

It was the 1936 Olympics and it’s the host nation Germany vs India (British India) in the finals of Hockey for Gold Medal. Indian players are representing the British team and are in furious mood as then German leader Adolf Hitler had spoken ill about India and Indians didn’t like. All players show their dissent right from the beginning of the match and they take revenge by thrashing the German Team and take home the Gold Medal. It was not just the medal but it was also the love of the German fans that India had won. But what’s more important for Indian players was all the credit goes to British and the National Anthem played is British. This was the moment where Indian Captain Samrat and the manager Tapan Das (AK) dream something very big and that is to see India win Hockey Gold as a free nation. This is the actual start to the movie and movie shows how Tapan Das the manager of Indian Hockey Team who is a gambler, drunkard and not so very well-behaved person shows complete dedication and massive respect towards the game of Hockey.

Olympics get cancelled in 1940 and 1944 and only in the year 1948 the Olympics return at London and Tapan Das is super excited about this news. Someone who spent 12 years without any meaning had actually found that his big dream is now not far away and he needs to get the team ready. This part of the movie is the awe-inspiring act by Tapan Das who creates a team scouting all around the Country. But partition of 1947 takes away everything, including his captain and four players who decide to go to Pakistan and few Foreigners decide to go back to their homeland. He is left with only a handful Indians. As he was about to give up Samrat re-surfaces and rejuvenates Tapan Das to pursue his dream of building a team.

This story of rebuilding the team and creating remarkable players who go on to defeat the mighty British team in their home land in the 1948 Olympics and to take the revenge of 200 years of rule was a treat to watch. Sure you would feel the Goosebumps multiple times in the Movie.

My takeaways for you from the Movie:

Not taking it further, every movie teaches us something and this movie gives us a simple yet most powerful lesson to learn and that is to be united, believing and committed to the Dream. Yes it’s the Dream that’s much bigger than anything else. You dream and only then you will be able to work towards it and accomplish it. Unfortunately, we have many people who are full of Dreams but no support and that’s where the factor of belief comes. The last time India won a hockey gold was in 1980. That is almost 38 years ago! It’s not that winning is not in the minds of the present players but what lacks in them is the ‘Dream’ that a Winning team needs. There will be obstacles which are there to spoil the Dream and they come in the form of Politics, Ego and Jealousy both in the players and in the Management. If we learn to manage them well, we will see many Golds coming to India, not just the hockey but in all other games as well…. Gold is just a reminder to the 130 Cr Indians of what they can do, if they dream, believe and chase the dream!!!

Market Trade Setup 21st August #Nifty

Markets and News

Another truncated week where the first half of the week will come to an end today and the picture looks bit different from last week. The big news is the weakening of dollar where the dollar index in last 10 days has fallen from 97 to 95.4 and Rupee is already at 69.82 levels and today we might see further more strengthening of Rupee. US market ended slightly positive last night with Dow gaining around 90 points but Asia today is not celebrating and it is absolutely flat today with Japan and Singapore in mild negative and others in mild positive.

Domestic Cues

Coming to the domestics, all the Q1 results and the macro economic data of August is released and the only figure that is left is the Q1 GDP that would come next week. So, today is going to be a day of Brent Crude and weakening dollar and the movement of stocks associated. Brent Crude is still at 72 dollars and with weakening dollar many stocks related to oil, paints and other related stocks will find its way back. Also the rupee strengthening will make the banks bit more stronger and we might see some gains in these sectors today.

Derivatives Action

On the derivatives front, a different story seems to be going on there. FIIs are selling a lot in Futures market as Nifty is going up and the overall long positions in Nifty futures is down to 51% from 52% seen at the beginning of yesterday. Then reason for Nifty gaining 81 points is the bullishness seen in options market where there are lot of puts written to eat the premium and the Nifty put call ratio surged to 1.73 at the end of the day from 1.66 at the beginning of the day. 11500 put added a record 15.6 lakh positions, its a record because these kind of numbers we see only during expiry week.
The other story is the shifting of accumulated open interest from 11000 seen at the beginning of the series to 11400 now indicates that the floor of the market shifted from 11000 to 11400. At 30 rupees premium 11400 put has the highest accumulated open interest of 43.5 lakh positions compared to 42.6 lakh positions seen at 11000 put. So, Nifty theoretically cannot drop below 11370 in this series. On the call side also yesterday saw the shift of maximum accumulated open interest from 11500 to 11600 call. 11600 call now has 33.8 lakh accumulated positions versus 11500 that has 32.5 lakh positions. At 70 rupee premium 11670 will be the roof for the market.

What is the Nifty call for the day?

Yesterday I asked you not to trade and if you look at the Nifty chart, you will agree with me. There was no chance for you to trade. Today, most of the Asia is flat and we also might open at 11550 levels which is still the resistance that needs to be broken for Nifty to go up. Yesterday’s option of moving the OI from 11500 to 11600 has cleared the way for Nifty to cross 11600 but will it happen today or not needs to be seen. If 11550 is taken out easily in the morning then 11580-11620 will be a strong congestion zone. But the question is about risk. I would say, today also stay away. Sometimes, it is better to sacrifice a small profit, even if it comes. I would rather say, shift to options now, than take positions in futures. Wait for my call on twitter during the day, if there is a chance to trade today.

Bhagavadgita Chapter 11 Vishwaroopa Darshana Yoga Verse 1

Chapter 11 Vishwaroopa Darshana Yoga Verse 1
Shloka

Arjuna Uvaacha:

Madanugrahaaya paramam guhyamadhyaatmasamjnitam;

Yattwayoktam vachastena moho’yam vigato mama.

Translation

Arjuna said:

By this explanation of the highest secret concerning the Self,

which Thou hast spoken out of compassion towards me my delusion is gone.

Interpretation

This is the starting of the 11th Chapter of Bhagavad Gita. It starts off with Arjuna saying to Lord Krishna that in the previous chapter Lord has extensively spoken about the glories of the Lord which had a great impact on him. Arjuna also says that he has understood the highest secrets about the self, from what Lord has taught him. He also goes on to say that Lord Krishna was extremely compassionate and His words were filled with passion when He spoke those words. Such words driven by compassion has removed all the delusions or self-doubts from his mind, says Arjuna.

Extending the Interpretation to Mankind’s Life!

In the interpretation, I have just mentioned that we have began the 11th Chapter of Bhagavad Gita and I have purposefully stayed away from naming the chapter. The name of this chapter is “The Yoga of the vision of cosmic form” or in other words its also called as “Vishwaroopa Darshana Yoga”. The name itself gives Goosebumps to us. Yes, this is the Yoga where Lord Krishna talks about His true cosmic form and upon the request of Arjuna shows Him the Viswaroopam of the Lord. This makes this Yoga a very very special one.

After listening to the divine glories of God, Arjuna becomes overwhelmed with the nature of the Lord. He understands that the one who is riding his chariot, though appears as a normal individual, is no normal person. He is a Yug purush and He was the one born to enlighten people in that Yuga and His Gita will not only enlighten them, but also the people for next many generations. After understanding the power of Lord Krishna, who was in a simple human form Arjuna becomes curious to see the actual Avtaar of the Supreme Lord. This Yoga begins with Arjuna asking to describe the Lord and show him Lord’s Cosmic form. Let’s see what Lord does.
