Incredible India… outclassed Australia, India breached Australia’s fortress the Gabba and retain Border Gavaskar Trophy…

A scintillating performance at the Gabba by Team India and the victory gave India a series victory.

2-1 series against the full-strength Aussie team is an unimaginable feat and India achieved it. India won at the Australian fortress, the Gabba and scripted an unbelievable record in the history of Indian cricket history. By far this is India’s best victory overseas. Interestingly, to everyone’s surprise, India did manage to win the series even after getting bruised, battered and beaten by Aussies in Adelaide.

From 36 all out in Adelaide to come back strong in the MCG and win was extraordinary. When you thought that’s the maximum that India can achieve, we were all up for amazing treat to our eyes. An exceptional drawn test match at SCG with both Ashwin and Hanuma Vihari playing outstanding cricket even after taking body blows. Note this, both these batsmen batted more than 260 balls at SCG against the top bowling attack in the World.

Come Gabba, India was never expected to play for 3 days. It was all about the domination of Aussie quick bowlers and rock-solid batters. Only Pujara and Rahane had played all the matches, rest everyone got their chance because of other players injuries. Siraj from debuting became the spearhead in the last test, courtesy injury to Bumrah. Yet, the inexperienced bowling line up with Siraj, Saini, Thakur and Natarajan bowled with determination and discipline. Their strength and passion for the game and the country were on the line every time they bowled. Many records broken during the series, the one that India will want to forget is the lowest ever total of 36. One record that India won’t forget forever is the victory at The Gabba. India didn’t just defeat Aussies, they dethroned Australia in ICC Test Rankings, go to the top spot in World Test Championship Points Table. The route to Lord’s for the first-ever WTC is in the touching distance.

The new dialogue/controversy that is slowly erupting after the series win…. Virat or Rahane?

There will be baseless arguments I guess made on how Virat ran away from Australia right after Adelaide test. While this is too much of hatred, the logical brains will start comparing India’s performance under Rahane’s captaincy and Virat’s Captaincy. Just to put it on record, Rahane has never lost a test match. Rahane captained 5 matches, won 4 and drew 1.

While the statistics do prove that Rahane is a great captain and deserves all the praise there is the other side to it. The squad strength is strong and like Dhoni mentored, created excellent players. Virat did the same to the younger Indians. The likes of Siraj, Sundar and Saini are all the players of RCB. There can always be an argument that these bowlers got trained well under Virat’s RCB. But will it be right to give Virat the credit for the test performances? Maybe not.

IND vs AUS 4th Test highlights: India creates history, wins series 2-1 | Business Standard News

Does it mean, the captaincy is not at all important? Is it all about the players in the squad? That’s an excellent question. The answer comes from the opposition team. Australia has got excellent pace bowlers. We have seen their best at Adelaide. But what happened to them in the next three matches? In test matches, every player’s perseverance and skills are on show. That was the key factor missing in Aussies after the win at Adelaide. Did they go overboard after the magnificent 2nd innings at Adelaide? It’s all for the Aussie team management to discover.

Coming back to the point… Virat or Rahane? Who is the best captain? My Views…..

As an Indian cricket fan, as someone who believes in a particular ideology let me tell you, a captain is picked after due process. There are enough scrutiny and enough study. In today’s time, every player is playing at International level frequently and carry the right exposure to lead the team. Given the opportunity, Rohit Sharma will roar as Captain. So, it’s not at all a right idea to compare the captaincy but back the captain of your team. You can’t title someone as best or worst based on few matches, especially in the modern days. Talent Pool in India is huge and the one who becomes the captain is the best in the XI. Don’t forget, there is a huge role of management in picking the right players and mentoring them. Don’t forget Ganguly and Dravid’s contribution in this unthinkable series win.

We as the fans of Indian Cricket team must respect the Captain and feel proud of a captain whoever it is no matter which state he comes from, what he does in personal life, which franchise he plays for in IPL. Be a patriot and not a selective immature fan…

For all those who are wondering what next? India will play England in 4 test match series starting February 5th in Chennai. Let’s once again root for the Team India and cheer the BLUES in WHITES!!!
